Real-Time Cost Estimates:
New Survey Running Cost and Facility Condition Index Calculations

What type of costs does VFA.auditor calculate?

VFA.auditor 2.0 introduces new real-time costs and Facility Condition Index (FCI) calculations that are updated in real-time as the facility self-assessment survey is being completed.

There are three survey calculations that are updated as the user enters building system information – System Corrective Action cost, Survey Total Cost, and FCI.

System Corrective Action Cost – This calculation will allow the VFA.auditor user to see the associated cost estimate of the deficiency or corrective action selected in the survey. For example, if a user identifies 500 square feet of flooring to be replaced, once that value of “500” is entered for this building system, an estimated cost will appear at the top of the survey. This calculation is based on the embedded VFA domain expertise and RSMeans integration that incorporates the tasks necessary for this potential floor replacement (labor time/expense, materials, disposal, etc.) and their associated costs.

Survey Total Cost – VFA.auditor users can now see a running total of the corrective actions that have been collected in the survey. As each building system is reviewed and deficiencies are entered, the user will not only get details for each system but the aggregation of the total costs to that point.

Survey Facility Condition Index (FCI) – One common, valuable benchmark for Facility Management resources is the FCI. VFA.auditor enables organizations to immediately get an updated index calculation on facility assets that have been surveyed with VFA.auditor. This index is updated throughout the survey data collection process so users can review how specific actions (and costs) are impacting this benchmark.

VFA.auditor provides valuable cost and benchmarking data that can be rapidly collected and analyzed for enhanced facility planning and strategic decision support.
