Facilities Assessment Consultants

Our Facilities Consultants are responsible for performing assessment services in a fast-paced, highly efficient environment. Degree in Architecture or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or professional facilities management experience. Engineering candidates will ideally have crossover experience between ME and EE. 5-10 years of facilities management-related experience; strong working knowledge of building systems in one or more architectural, mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines; strong computer, technical and cost-estimating skills; US and international travel required (mostly North America); willingness to work on a contract basis with no benefits.

Project Manager – Professional Services (Washington, DC area)

The incumbent is responsible for leading multiple, concurrently running service-oriented projects on a national level. They will actively participate in the pre-sales process and oversee existing projects including facility condition assessments, training, and other related consulting services. The projects under the incumbent direction will primarily be in support of engagements within our Federal Government Vertical with clients from both the civilian and non-civilian sectors of the Government. Therefore an active Top Secret (TS) clearance, or one recently expired is strongly desired.

This position will require but not be limited to the following roles: Assist sales and other company personnel in the positioning of services; manage client relationship during project including all client and internal communications, change order processes, project initiation and close-out; Daily management of projects including transfer from sales representative, team assembly and coordination, scheduling, monthly invoicing, cost controls, staff and revenue forecasting and submission of all deliverables to client; ensure quality of product is delivered to client; including monitoring of assessment procedures, data entry, and database quality control procedures; oversee and provide project support and direction to assessment staff; review and have solid working knowledge of building systems in the areas of architectural, mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines; interface with VFA assessment staff, other project managers, directors and software engineers; technical mentoring of field staff

Qualifications include: degree in architectural or engineering discipline, or project management. 5 to 10 years project management experience. Previous experience in facility management related fields and managing condition assessments a plus. Previous experience managing projects or programs within Federal and/or State Government agencies is also a plus; strong knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, Project, and internet based applications and strong typing skills; strong consultative abilities and the skills to manage multiple projects of varying size simultaneously; strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills; prior success supporting a direct sales team in a pre-sales or subject matter expert capacity is strongly desired; some U.S. and International travel (approx. 20%) is expected.

Special Notice:  The incumbent will be required to have successfully completed or to undergo investigative processes necessary to obtain a Top Secret security clearance (several month process).

Software Development

Principal Software Architect - Product Development - Boston

Reporting to the Director of Software Development, the Principal Software Architect must be experienced in architecting and developing scalable web applications using J2EE and Web 2.0 technologies in a SaaS environment. The candidate will play a key role in creating a coherent software architecture for VFA products that emphasizes unified domain model and code reuse. The candidate will drive the creation and collaborate on the execution of the implementation strategy that preserves continuity with existing product line and allows transition to the next generation architecture within 2-3 years over multiple product releases and with visible and marketable benefits in every release. Technical skills must include Java 5+ as well as JavaScript, AJAX , Hibernate, Flex, EJB, and SOA. Extensive experience in Web UI/application development with connection to Oracle 10g, UI frameworks and Java report/graphing engines. 12+ years of software engineering/development experience, specifically at least 6 years of experience in design and development of Java based web applications. The candidate should possess a BS/MS degree in related discipline or equivalent experience.

Senior/Principal UI Software Engineer - Product Development - Boston

Individual with 5+ years in web-based software development focused on front-end web UI development. The candidate should have extensive J2EE web development experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This individual should also have the following skills: Demonstrated skills to develop highly-maintainable, modularized, model-view-controller (MVC) driven UI components; Minimum 5 years experience in building commercial software applications using Java in a J2EE environment; Experience building web application that needs to be extremely robust, usable and scalable; Experience using JavaServer Faces, AJAX, MyFaces, or JBoss Seam; Strong programming skills with focus on Java, JSP, JSTL, XHTML, XSLT, XPath; Browser development using JavaScript, XHTML, XSL, CSS, and XML; Experience with the platform of Internet Explorer 6/7 and Firefox; Ability to take business requirements and define product requirements, functional and design specifications; BS or MS in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent.

The following skills would be a plus: Good knowledge of Relational Databases and SQL, especially Oracle 10g; Experience contributing to an open source project; Experience with Java Report/Graphing Engines.

Software Engineer – Product Development – Boston

The Software Engineer we seek will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of complex software applications and programs required to meet the Company’s business objectives. Specific duties will include Designing, developing, implementing and maintaining complex software applications and programs to meet business objectives; providing analytical and technical leadership in the conceptualization, development and implementation of complex web based applications in a J2EE environment; and analyzing, designing, coding, debugging, testing and/or documenting the company’s applications/software products and computer programs.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related plus five (5) years experience in the job offered or five (5) years experience as a Technical Analyst, or similar.

Experience, which may be gained concurrently, to include: three years experience in building commercial/enterprise software applications using Java in a J2EE environment; two years experience in GUI/UI framework development; two years experience using J2EE application server technologies including EJB, JSP/Servlets, JMS, and JDBC; two years Browser development experience using JavaScript, XHTML, XSL, CSS and XML; and two years experience with relational databases (Oracle) and programming in PL/SQL.

Senior Network Systems & Web Engineer

The Senior Systems Network and Web Engineer will serve as a Senior Systems Administrator with a focus on the internal and web hosted infrastructure. This is a co-lead position that has accountability for all aspects of design, implementation and maintenance of those environments. Specific duties will include architecture design, documentation, and management of key internal and web based projects. They will also play an important role in recommending and executing business decisions relating to these systems. The Senior Engineer will also serve as the lead Security Administrator with responsibility for assessing and recommending security requirements as well planning, implementing, testing and monitoring security systems. They will also be responsible for administering access controls and identifying and responding to intrusions. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for driving/implementing forward security initiatives in both the internal and web environments.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Senior Engineer must be a team player with an orientation towards superior customer service. The must possess excellent inter-personal, written and oral communication skills as well as an ability to research industry trends in order to make timely and sound recommendations to management. Technical attributes should include strong analytic and problem solving skills; 5+ years senior web hosting and architect experience; 5+ years senior network infrastructure and architect experience (firewalls, routers, switches, VPN, power, backup systems); information security systems engineer background - accreditations desirable; 5+ years Windows Server and back office environment systems administrator experience; 5+ years Linux system administrator experience preferred. Additional skill sets a plus: Sharepoint, MSSQL, Oracle, Server Virtualization.

Additional Requirements: Operating as part of the IT team we require all our team members to be able to move and install computer equipment. Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 30 lbs safely. The selected candidate must also possess a valid driver’s license.
